The Power Of Candles: A Portal Of Light
Since ancient times, candles have been considered much more than simple sources of light, as light is always a path. Candles are a source of light, but they are much more than that; they are magical tools.
In their flame resides a profound mystery, a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. They are magical tools filled with symbolism and power, capable of opening energetic portals and channeling our intentions to the universe.
By lighting a candle, we create a path and activate the power of one of the strongest elements: fire, invoking transformation and manifestation.
Fire symbolizes purification, energy, and change. In the act of lighting a candle, we invoke its ability to burn away the old and make way for the new, allowing our intentions to manifest on both the spiritual and material planes.
It is important to know that each candle acts and carries a message depending on its color, combined with the intention you set when lighting it.
-
- White works for purification and clarity. It is ideal for energetic cleansing rituals or for starting anew.
- Black is for protection and the removal of negative energies. Its strength surrounds us in a protective shield.
- Red is for passion and strength. This candle color amplifies courage and intensity in any intention.
- Green is for prosperity and abundance. It is excellent for rituals aimed at economic success or material stability.
- Pink is for love and harmony. It is perfect for attracting healthy and balanced romantic relationships or for healing emotions.
The flame of the candle acts as a bridge. Its intensity and behavior also speak to us, as they reflect the state of our intention: a strong flame indicates positive energy and high vibrations, while an unstable flame indicates blockages and low vibrations.
Candles in magic, by themselves, create an entire ritual, as the very act of lighting them allows us to connect with the universe. Therefore, it is important to do so with an object made from materials that come from our Mother Earth.
Keep in mind that the melting of the wax also has its own language. The remnants can form shapes that contain symbolic messages about the outcome of your ritual, so our attention and intention should be focused on them from start to finish.
If circles or spirals form as the wax melts, this represents cycles closing or energies in motion. Straight lines indicate a clear path toward your goal. Complex or broken shapes suggest blockages or areas that need more attention in your life.
Remember to observe these remnants with gratitude and curiosity, as they contain information about the development and outcome of your ritual. With candles, we can perform various simple rituals that can help us get closer to the goal of our intention. One of them is for protection; when we light a white candle surrounded by a circle of salt, we visualize a protective shield around us or our home.
Protection is another ritual we often wish to achieve; for this, we can use a green candle, combine it with basil oil, and write a prosperity wish on it. As with the others, we will focus our intention while lighting it.
Remember! Once your candle has burned out (or when the time for the ritual is finished), thank the fire and the universe for the energy received. Discard the wax remnants respectfully, burying them or taking them to a natural place.
Through the light of candles, our intentions travel, taking form in both the spiritual and material planes.
