Seth is a god of chaos, the desert, storms, disorder, violence and foreigners in the ancient Egyptian religion. Seth played a positive role when accompanying Ra in his solar boat to repel Apep, the Chaos snake. Seth had a vital role as a reconciled combatant. He was the lord of the red earth (desert) where he was the balance of the role of Horus as lord of the black earth (earth).
